How Wet Is Wet?

Last week I bought a flashlight & mag holder from Gould & Goodrich.
The flashlight part was designed for a Streamlight scorpion. After a call to the company we decided that the Surefire 6P should fit. It will go in just fine but takes two hands to get it out.
I was talking to a friend and he said since it is leather I might be able wet that part of the holder and stretch it.
I can get a dowel just a little bigger then the flashlight but does anyone have any idea how wet is wet?

Soak it till it's very wet but dry it slowly -in a warm room not above about 90 degrees. More leather is ruined by heating to dry it than anything else !!

Wet it and use the light you intend to use from it to dry it, do not use an oversize dowel. If you do it will be loose. The leather will form to whatever you put in it to dry.

A plastic sandwich bag works good to keep the moisture off the light. Soak in HOT water 20 minutes, put light in bag and then in holster, leave for a couple days at room temperature. Problem solved.

Before I wet it I would try a method taught to me by Gary Brommeland, a master holster maker. Wrap your light in a layer of wax paper and let it sit overnight. The difference will be amazing, If it is still too tight, wrap it in two layers and repeat the overnight wait. I bought two new holsters and a magazine holder. All were as tight as you describe and the wax paper trick worked amazingly well. Whatever method you use, be careful not to overdo it, it is almost impossible to "Unshrink," leather.
