tonight i was at my sisters house areound 9:30 pm. Just there visting in a nice neighborhood when around 11:20 pm there is a knock at the door and it is the police. it just so happens that my rear window of my van has been shot out and on one heard a thing. the police officer released some information to me being a private investigator that this neigborhood has been hit almost 3 times in the past 2 months and always on football night. I told him "not to tell you how to do your job but shouldnt you be watching this neighborhood after football games?" and he said "to tell you the truth yes but we dont." now i just bit my tounge before i got a ticket. I know thew local police department doesnt havew the man power but why lie to us. now my van can get fixed but what if it was my sisters van? well i guess this is a rant but like i said why lie to us? :mad: :confused: :mad: :confused:
 
I'd be ticked, but not at the cops. They didn't shoot your window out. It'd be nice if the cops could be around for everything, but most of the time they can't.

At least you weren't hurt.:)
 
I don't see what there is to be mad about.
That's just one more simple example illustrating the absolute TRUTH that police are not there to protect anybody, and they definitely aren't there to stand guard over a window in a vehicle.

They're only function is to arrive at the scene, pick up the bodies and evidence, and then hope that they are at some point in the future able to catch and jail the perp.

Not only are you mad at the wrong people, you really shouldn't be mad at all.
Seriously; I'm not being sarcastic.

There's a reason why CCW permitting is growing quickly around the nation, and it's because of the TRUTH I just stated.

The sad truth is the police just dont have the manpower in most departments to handle patrolling when you take into consideration that they probably get an insane number of service calls per month. If you want to know how things are going ask for the number of service calls the department gets per month. Take that and divide that by the number of officers who are on patrol and you might be shocked. My suggestion for that neighborhood is a partnership between the police in forming a neighborhood watch.
 
The reason no one heard anything is that it was probably kids with a BB gun or pellet gun. Thats pretty common. You hit safety glass with the pellet guns of today and they shatter just like with a bullet.
 
The thing about Police is that their main job isn't prevention, it's reaction. They can't be everywhere. That's why they usually don't come 'til you call them. Sure if they had an extra man and they knew there might be a problem it would be nice to have him patrol the area. But they might not have an extra man, and there might be something more important than a vehicle window. Sad but true.
 
Don't depend on police to protect you and your property:rolleyes: That's YOUR responsibility, jsut be glad you were not sitting behind that window.
 
I, too, would like to know why you believe the police lied.

I'd also like to know how you might have been cited had you not bitten your tongue, although I'd bet my guess is near the mark.

You do not mention why the officers came to the door, though "on one heard a thing"(sic) suggests that they observed the damage and followed up. I do not see that you have any cause for complaint.

Just be glad they were not the Grammar, Spelling, Capitalization, and Punctuation Police there to haul you away.:D
 
The lie was to the other people who they said they would look out for the vehicles. Also I aint mad at the police, My rant was aimed at the little punks who shot out the window and the police found a 22 bullet casing near another vehicle down the road and I already fixed the window. They suspect it was the same shooter but they doubt they will find them unless they do it again. And my sister is having a hare time right now cause every week she has to go up to San Antonio twice a week for chemo therapy. And it is about 4 hours away for so she is very limited on money. So in a way I was glad it was mine instead of hers.
 
While I'm sorry about your troubles, can you state what the legal or political point to this thread is?

I must be having a bad hair day, as I don't see anything but a rant about vandals... Someone help me out here!

???????? This bit wasn't in the original post. What exactly did the officer say to the "other" people? Who are the "other" people?:confused:

Probly should be moved to Gen. Discussion that would be the proper area for this discussion as it IS gun related.
