How to tune your BP Pistol

These are indeed useful articles. They've been posted many times on this and other forums, but it doesn't hurt to remind us about them; I tend to think everyone's familiar with them, but that's obviously not the case. Thanks for the post.

No worry. Some of us have been hanging out at this joint so long we have our names on the stools.

It's good this comes up for the newer members. When I first started doing the gun forums I would read the old posts but you can't read them all.

To all the newer guys, don't be embarrassed to ask any question. We all started off as FNG's.

I didn't mean to bust your chops, so my bad there if it came out that way. I really meant to show that those references have stood the test of time; they're good stuff.
 
Thank you for the links, as I've never seen these before (and I've been rolling around TFL since practically its inception ;) ). It's only been the last five years or so that I have done any sort of playing with the insides of my guns, though.

I really have been enjoying this BP section of the forum - what a good crew! :)

Not a tune up guide but I do have a bookmark for a site that shows disassemble and general maintenance. If I could just find it.

The Remington has fewer issues than the open tops generally. No arbor fit issues that plague the open top Colt. Hand springs and bolt springs are known to break, other than that the 1858 is pretty trouble free. Polishing the hand and hand slot inside the frame well really improve the 'feel' of the action. Anyplace metal moves against metal should be smooth as possible with out removing material.
 
Remington assembly/disassembly instructions (but not tune-up help) are under the sticky at the top of the bp forum on The High Road forum. I'd provide a link but it's not loading at the moment.
