How to test a stock for flex?

Hi all. I have been reading some threads about this. Never has the thought of it really bothered me, but I am getting ready to do Appleseed so I feel the way I shoot may change with the incorporation of the use of slings. How do you guys test your guns for such conditions?

Just take your hand over the barrel and under the stock and squeeze.. like you were squeezing a stress ball. Watch the gaps between parts and if they shrink then you have stock flex.

^^ Yep, what he said. It's easy to spot. If the stock flexes under hand pressure, it will flex under sling pressure.

Open up the fore end's barrel channel enough to ensure no bending of it will let it touch the barrel. A round dowel with coarse to medium grit sandpaper's good to use.
