take a good wiff you can smell the ambers and mesquite aand occasional cowpatty they burn good to if your on a ranch

Here in Central Calif we don't get a huge seasonal change with snow and all but we we do get rain and it ruins more than one CAS session.
The range is outdoors in the open but thank goodness our Pistol Range is covered with a shed-type roof and we can shoot when it's raining! Temps are normally in the high 30;s and low 40's so it's not all that uncomfortable. The main wintertime foe for our shooting is the Fog. It makes the 100 yard range unusable sometimes and it also keeps your powder damp!
I hate to see the long days of Summer fade but it's just another thing to deal with...

Here, the air gets crisp, with 30-degree temperature swings between night and day; the oaks and maples turn brilliant colors, and thoughts turn anew to the deer woods.

For me it's when you wake up and the car is covered in ice. Here that was 2 days ago, 18 degrees *sigh*.

btw - we've been traveling all over the US the last few years (my folks bought an RV and we borrow it in the summer ), I think the Black Hills is just about the best place I've ever been! Hard to choose between there, Wyoming, and western Montana. Ahhhhhh, maybe someday.
