How to store my 12 GA?

I have an SKB 385 12ga side by side and I absolutely love it.

When I store it in my case should I fire each barrel or leave it in a "cocked" position?

So far I have not de-cocked it before storage but I am wondering if that may wear the firing pin springs faster. Then again maybe there is something bad about storing it the other way too.

Any thoughts?
 
It shouldn't really matter either way. The firing pin springs should last your lifetime stored compressed but it can't hurt anything to fire it for storage.
