What would be the proper and legal way to sell firearms, for a friend.. ???

Background;
I have a close friend who was advised by his Physician, that he should consider liquidating his firearms. sadly, his physically health is diminishing. He has a small collection and asked me to help him in it's disposition. We both have a permit to buy and sell. Even so, how can I legally sell "his" firearms. Would add that he is not able to drive. ..... :(

That's hard to answer without knowing your state's laws. Here in OH-IO, you could pack them in your car, sell them at the local sportsman's club or gun show, post them on Gunbroker, whatever. Out of state sales, of course, would have to go through a FFL for transfer. Since you mention permits to buy and sell, Iowa may be very different. I would start with your Attorney General's website. Ohio's is actually fairly useful.

Iowa permits

Iowa may be very different.
Really not much different. However, in Iowa they issue two types of permits. The first one is a permit to purchase a handgun. This permit is also used to by long-guns as the background check has already been done. There is a three day waiting period and costs $5.00, issued by the country Sheriff and good for a year.

The second permit is for CCW and, good for five years and if your timing is right, costs $25.00. In addition to carrying, it also allows you to buy handguns and long-guns without a background check and waiting periods. The Federal 4473 is still required. ..... :)
