How to remove factory camo finish from a barrel?

Hi all,

I'm considering the purchase of second barrel for my Remington Versa Max.

I've got a line on a nice used one, but it has the factory camouflage finish, and I'd prefer to have it in matte black like the rest of my shotgun.

Does anyone have any experience removing the factory camo finish?

Also, if I buy the camo barrel and strip it, I'd like to get some feedback on using Cerakote for refinishing.

Thanks!

I have a feeling you're talking about the one on ebay ending in a few hours. It seems like it might cost more than enough to strip and coat the camo barrel. If this was a car or motorcycle I have a feeling it would be a simple scuff and paint job.

With use Cerakote will scratch and wear and having the original layer under there would be good protection.

I doubt it is nothing more than a dip job; if the manual for that barrel mentions things to keep away from it, those would be my first choices.
