I want one of their Garands.

Do I send them a check w/my FFL's license info & address?

Does the FFL check my CMP friendly club membership card, etc?

Wheeler, No FFL required. Rifle comes to your front door via Fed-X but adult signature is required.

The requirements look hard but they are not really.

It's an easy process really. As long as you can find a CMP approved club, you should be set.

You don't really need to compete in a match. All they are really looking for is proof of training/safe handling of firearms. If you have a training certificate with an NRA/LE/Military instructor signature, you should be fine. I sent along a copy of my Washington state CPL also.

I figured too much documentation can't hurt. CMP runs a standard NICS check when they process your order, and then ships the rifle with tracking info. Pretty smooth system.

Social Security number is potentially of use if you have a name that might kick off an alert as a prohibited person due to some criminal sharing your name. If you have a fairly common name, like "John Smith," the social security number might help avoid a delay. If your name isn't a common name, don't worry about it -- protect your personal info.

I use my SSAN because there is another "Uncle Buck" somewhere that has a pretty interesting background and is not allowed to own a gun.

I know I could get a special identifying number, but the SSAN works.
