How to pry magazine cap off Winchester 1300?

The manual just says "pry the magazine cap off carefully" but I can't tell how to doi it w/o damaging the gun. Some crud is inside the tube and I'd like to get at it...

Could anyone post a picture or a detailed description of the process please.

I'm assuming you mean the little aluminum colored cap that retains the magazine plug, not the actual blued steel screw on cap? Just insert a screwdriver under slot in the cap and make a movement that is almost between a pry and a lifting motion to move the screwdriver up and pop the cap off. The cap isn't in too tightly, but of course the spring is under pressure, so watch out!
I'm reciting this from memory, as I sold my 1300 about 8 years ago! Nobody else answered, so I felt obligated..... :)

Pry it off with a screwdriver and throw it away. Re-install only the screw on cap and it will work fine.
