How to measure barrel length?

The "Standard" is....

from the rear of the barrel where it almost meets the cylinder to the muzzle.
This is how holster makers and lawmakers measure.

If you are an internal ballistics researcher, the length of barrel is from the base of the bullet to the muzzle, regardless of style.
 
Quick n dirty.....from front face of cylinder to muzzle. The measurment obtained this way will be a few thousanths of an inch longer than the actual length.

Archie's method is proper.
