How to lubricate o/u trigger mechanisms

GENTLEMEN

O/U TRIGGER MECHANISMS AND FIRING PIN MECHANISMS ARE WELL ENCLOSED; WITHOUT EXTENSIVE DISASSEMBLY, HOW DO YOU ADEQUATELY LUBRICATE THOSE AREAS, AND WHAT IS THE BEST LUBE FOR THESE AREAS? (I HAVE A VERY SWEET BROWNING "CYNERGY' 12 ga o/u)

A couple of ways that work:
1- Drip CLP or light machine oil through the safety mechanism hole. This is often messy and gets oil in lots of places other than the intended target.

2- Remove the recoil pad and the buttstock, clean the inner workings well with gun solvent, and oil the appropriate place properly and sparingly with CLP or such. Then reinstall the buttstock and recoil pad.

I suppose I don't need to tell you which way is the "correct" way to do it . . .
 
Here is how I've done it on dozens of O/Us. Remove barrels and all wood. Spray down the receiver internals with brake cleaner. Make sure to get into all nooks and crannies, including firing pin holes. Then spray dry with compressed air. Spray with Remoil and spray with compressed air to remove excess oil. Reassemble gun.
 
Take the stock off ...and clean and lube it ( on triggers I use a light spray oil / like Rig #2 or Rem Oil / but Break Free will work as well. There is not anyway to do it properly without taking the stock off.

But you don't need much ...if its gritty / then you're getting some blow-by or something in there. Personally, I believe in taking the stocks off all of my O/U's at least twice a year ...and more often if I take them out in heavy weather...
