How to contact High Standard?

I e-mailed High Standard a week ago. No reply. I called them this morning at 9:00am their time. Played the recorded message game. Left a voice mail giving them my name and phone number. No call back. Anyone know how to get ahold of a real live person at High Standard?

Or, maybe someone here can answer my question?

I have a High Standard Supermatic Citation made in 1981. I would like to replace every spring in the pistol. Kind of start off fresh. Will the spring kits from new pistols off their web site fit?

Kind of a lame web site also. When you click on new pistols from the menu, the page says not found? Not sure I want to order from a web site that belongs to a company that won't answer a phone. They do exist, right?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mike, the one spring you need to be most concerned with is the driving spring, (recoil spring). Failure to replace a weak driving spring can cause frame cracking. burrhead is right on it, see Wolff. The progressive driving spring Wolff sells is better than the factory one. As for the other springs, I agree if they are working, you should be good. As I recall Wolff also had a spring kit for the most common springs as the little slide stop spring is easily lost if you have to take it off for any reason. Hope this helps.

I e-mailed Wolff Springs late last night with the model and serial number of my pistol. Less than 12 hours later, I got a reply. They even included links to their web site for the recoil spring, and a complete spring kit to fit my High Standard pistol. Sure wish great service like that came from more companies. I still haven't heard from High Standard.

As a rule, springs don't wear out.
If your gun works, there is no reason to replace any springs.

Of course they do, and coil springs start to degrade the first time they perform "work".

Flat leaf springs work the same until total failure; coil springs weaken gradually over time. Doesn't matter the application. Some wear out more than others and need replacing on a regular basis.

Obviously, you have no clue.
Again, how many springs have you made?
I have made thousands. 4 have failed.
I have seen many 100 year old springs-coil and flat, that were as good as new.

Mike38,
Try over to rimfirecentral, they have the owner of the current High-Standard on the board. Changing the recoil/driving spring takes three hands, the slide is pretty soft so be careful not to peen or bend the railways.

Note

Just a note....maybe unnecssary.......about service. Your 1981 pistol (East Hartford) was not made by the same company that you are trying to contact. The original company went out of business around 1984.

It is true the High Standard pistol brand went out of business and the name was bought and moved to Texas but fortunately the military grip design pistol did not change. The springs are the same.
