How to carry...

Howdy folks! I'm stumped and could use a hand. Gotta female
friend who works as an investigator but is having a hard time
finding the proper holster. It's open carry so at minimum a thumb-
strap is required. The problem is she's so short waisted that all
the typical holsters I've found for her Sig 228 and Glock 17 ride
too high under her arm for a comfortable (or even possible?)
draw. Does anyone know of a low riding (at least level one)
retention holster in leather (her choice). She would prefer a 0 to
5 degree forward cant (slim to none). Concealment is not so
much an issue as retention and looks  . Any gals out
there with an idea? Duty holsters aren't a problem but these plainclothes holsters ride so high. Thanks!

It's tough to fit a woman with a high ride holster. The problem is not so much the wider pelvis but the narrower waist (compared to a man), and having a short torso doesn't help. If it has to be a high ride, maybe she could have one made or find one that is canted outward. Such a holster would help, but none come immediately to mind as most are designed for men, and such a rig would tend to let the butt of the gun protrude too far.

I've seen women's holsters somewhere. They have a piece that attaches to the belt and hangs down, then the holster attaches to that and hangs out a bit. Net result is the initial piece of material follows the curvy bits between the waist and hip, then the holster hangs out so it is now vertical and no longer crammed into ribs/armpit.

What type of open carry application is this? Maybe something else would be in order. A nicely tooled lower-riding western rig maybe?

www.fist-inc.com also has holsters made specifically for women. They aren't the traditional uniformed officer type holsters, but if I read you right, investigator = plainclothes. They have several high-ride pancake holsters that may work. SUPER excellent personal customer service, and great prices too. If they don't have what she needs, it's quite possible she can talk to them and they will modify an existing design to meet her needs.

Thanks Folks!

It took a while to get back together with my
friend (she travels alot). From the list it
looks like she may be interested in the FIST
holsters mentioned by Onslaught (Thanks!). Still
having trouble finding any other options if these
don't work out. If you think of any other
concealment or plainclothes options please let
me know! Belly bands and gun clips are not an
option, though.

'preciate it!
