Anybody know how to blow up a .gif file? I have a really nice image of the .45ACP cartridge I would like to blow up, but I cannot afford Paint Shop Pro or some other garbage like that.

Paint Shop Pro 3.0 is shareware if you can find a copy of it. You will need some type of graphics program to blow up your graphic. Maybe you know someone who has a good paint package? Maybe someone on this board will do it for you if you email them the graphic? Maybe I'd volunteer?

Copy the file on a 3 1/2" floppy disk.

Liberally apply c-4.

Ignite.

...no more .gif...

Paint Shop Pro has a shareware version 5.03 on www.download.com .

Just enter "Paint Shop Pro" in the search field.

It's good for about 60 days.

Doc, try this.
When doing the HTML you add on height="_" & width="_"
Eg:
<a><img src="http://www.docspage/images/45.gif"height="300"width="500"></a>

Would someone please turn HTML back ON
as I can't figure out how to do the size increase in UBB !
Had a good example too !

the problem with blowing up a gif file is it has been created at ~72 dots per inch

increase the size of the file & you increase the amount of the jaginess of the image

Photoshop & some other warez will interpolate data and cause you to get an enlarged but blurry image

ya can't to a megs work with an 8 k file...

jpgs & gifs are usually purpose built for a pre envisioned usage.

to keep this on topic:
Although you can shoot a cape buffalo with a 22lr rifle, you maybe less than pleased with the result.

If you've got Netscape, you can fiddle with image sizes quick like with click and drag of an existing page in Composer. Dunno 'bout IE, though...'prolly not...

Yeah Your best bet is toas a graphic artist pal (like me) to scan one, put the case dimesions on it and mail it to you. (you understand that a 300 dpi color image at 8x10 inches takes up 20 MEGS of space??)

Drop me a line at rewill2@uswest.com and i'll see what I can do.

How to blow up a gif in 3 easy steps.

1. Place *.gif in World Trade Center/Federal Building/Cult compound of your choice

2. Wait for terrorists/FBI agents to organize a conspiracy

3. Watch your nightly news

Before too long you should get results. :D

Doc, I only use binary explosives anymore, they are much easier to store when only the occasional beaver dam needs to be put somewhere else. IMHO it would take only
10 to 12 percent to blow up a Gif as opposed to a Bit Map. Bit Maps are tricky.

Put it simply:

You can make a large image smaller, but you're going to have a hard time making a small image larger.

I love when you see that stuff in the movies and TV when they zoom in on a picture and these huge pixels suddenly render into a wonderfully detailed picture. Great stuff.

You're better off having a large image to begin with. Best of luck to you though.
