I just picked up a used one with a 6in. tube. I was wondering if they are rare or just run of the mill. Thanks for any help at all on this.

Around here they are fairly common. Most any well stocked gun shop has at least one. However, I don't recall ever seeing one at the range. Folks around here are pretty traditional. They just don't cotton to a seven shooter.

Does anyone have a 7 round speedloader out yet?
Loading the charge holes - one at a time - is something that I haven't done for years now.

HKS makes a speedloader for it, as do whatstheirname who make spring-loaded loaders. I have a 686+, bought it mostly becuase I like the index marks not to be right on top of the chambers, also I don't have to turn the cylinder as far per shot. Works fine and is very accurate.

Have a 686+ with 4" barrel. Very nice weapon and a very intimidating look. The 7 shot concept does make for a better trigger pull.
