How Proload Made My Week (long) and Picked Up a Lifetime Customer

A few weeks ago I ordered some ammunition from Proload. This was not the first time, and it won't be the last either. What made this time special was that an error was made. I wanted 230 gr .45 JHP ammo and 180 gr. 10mm JHP. I got 10mm and .45, but the .45 turned out to be Long Colt and not the auto I had been hoping for.

Turning to my computer as I often do in times of crisis, I dashed off a quick e-mail to Proload explaining the problem. I wrote them on Saturday, today I recieved a reply.

I was at work, minding my own business when my cell phone rang. It was John from Proload. To be entirely accurate, it was John, the guy who owns Proload.

It turns out that the error had been mine, I had specified .45 Colt rather than .45 auto. But John was going to send me that .45 auto anyway. When I asked if there were any special instructions to ship .45 Colt back to him, he told me to give it to a friend who could use it.

It was then, when I asked his name again to thank him that it came out that he was the owner of the company. John explained that he was the one answering my e-mail because no one else was there. Today was John's 30th wedding aniversary and he had given everyone the day off to celebrate.

John then proceeded to tell me all about the new 135 gr. 1450 fps 10mm they had developed for the G-29.

To reiterate for all of you who skip to the bottom.

1. I made a mistake and ordered the wrong ammo.
2. The owner of the company called me.
3. On his aniversary.
4. To tell me they would be shipping a new box of ammo to me for free.
5. And then spent ten minutes telling me about their new super hot 10mm round.

I tip my hat to John.

You're not the only one who has talked to the owner. I called a year or so ago to order some ammo and he answered the phone. He asked me some basic questions about what I shot, etc and then told me he was the owner. He said he liked to do all the different jobs around there just to make sure he was in touch with what was really going on. Great guy, sincere, and really wants to earn your business.

Pro Load is the best. I use pro Load and you can't beat the products or the service. IMHO it is about the best ammo out there. I've delt with John in the past also, a heck of a nice guy. He certainly earned my business.

About a year ago I ordered some stuff from Proload on-line to give it a try. I received an email to expect it in about 5 working days. After a week... no ammo.
About ten days after I made the order John called me and told me he got the package back. UPS wasn't able to find my address (eventhough I lived on a busy street, etc), so he wanted to verify it. He then told me he would send the ammo my way again.
At that point I was perfectly satisfied with his service, it wasn't his fault and I thought he handled the problem correctly.
Then he surprised me by saying he would send the amount I paid back (thru the CC-company, probably) and then take it from my account 10 days after that. So I wouldn't lose any interest on my bankaccount...

Proves to me to what lenght he will go for his customers.

I'm sitting here, sipping coffee from my ProLoad mug, recalling all of my phone and e-mail conversations with John Koppel.

What a gentleman. Always willing to answer questions, completely honest, and makes the best damn ammo around. Quality control second to none, with the best components - one's he believes in.

And he gave me a mug :).

John from Proload is certainly a great guy. I have talked with him several times about various topics. Mostly we talk about how things are here in Southern California (Proload used to be located here in Glendale, before they moved up North to a more gun friendly state.) Certainly a lot learn from him... Thumbs up! :)

I'm going to be sure to head over to his site and find out about picking up some ammo. Sounds like a fine man and a fine business.
