I don't have pics, but this is the blued ATP model. Wood forend and pistol grip. Well used, nice big scratch on top of receiver, etc. Assuming the bore (heavier barrel main reason I want it) checks out and the receivers alright, how much would you pay? I don't think I should pay over 200 and even that's kinda pushing it. Let me know what you think.

and does anyone know the differences between the blued models and the parkerized fullstock models with rifle sights? I had one of those and it was a great gun. Do both have heavy barrels?

do guns vary in price around the country? cause its a rare occurence when a used "tactical" 500 will go for under 3 here in utah, and thats even blued models. a lot of new Mossbergs are in the 400s. 590a1s 460-5ish

What is the mag capacity? If it is a 5 +1 I would give it highest consideration up to 300 but NEVER over. I would pay 300 after deciding that the action bar grooves and such are real tight. Loose and value plummets to no more than $140 and if it is higher capacity than 5+1 ..... No more than $140 like new as a dove barrel would also demand a new mag tube, spring...

There's one thats been on Gunbroker for three days. Started at 195.00 and nobody has bid on it yet. Personally I wouldn't give over half that.

saw a beat up, starting to rust, ghetto camo painted 500 at a pawn shop for 179$ which i thought was kinda steep since it needed work and reblueing

$ 100 tops - if its beat up ...... ( and that's only if I was feeling generous ) ...

I don't have any use for a gun that's been beat up ....

Mossbergs are pretty inexpensive in NIB condition. I agree with BigJim - maybe 100 for one that's functionally sound but cosmetically flawed.....

I got one slight chip in the stock, used but pretty much pristine (dust in the barrel but bright and shiny after a couple of dry swabs) with both slug and C-lect choke barrels for $150 OTD. Not sure if I would pay much more than that.

never buy a used mossberg 500 or a remington 870. theres so many of them NIB for less than $300

hell academy sells new remington 870 for 279. you buy one of those and itll be the last pump you ever buy. (ok maybe not)

prices must REALLY differ around the country. here, a new in box 870 express with 18.5" barrel, 7 shot capacity, bead runs 389+tax. The tacticals, which are just dressed up expresses, run about 429+tax. A new 500a, parkerized w/ heatshield can run around 379+tax. A blued 590 special purpose goes for 399.

It seems so much higher than the prices you guys talk about in other parts of the country.

"Never buy a used Mossberg..."
I bought my Mossberg 10 years ago out of a pile of used riot guns at a gun show, police surplus. It had green paint half covering the barrel (which had been shortened to 18" from 26"). Most of the finish was gone from the wood stocks. The bore looked fine, though, and the action was very smooth from lots of cycling. Paid $75 for it OTD.
For a long time, I did nothing to it other than spray painting the wood stocks black...I liked the beat-up look and od green half painted barrel. It shot great with 00 buck and slugs, and was a good candidate for a PG house gun.
Eventually, I added a Hogue forend. Then I found a Mossberg steel heatshield used very cheap, and put it on, after srtipping the rest of the old paint and putting some cold blue on. Now, it looks great.

Clown, Field guns are selling for less than a tacted out model. At this time, I would buy a field gun and either cut the barrel down or sell it and buy a shorter barrel.
