How much torque on a bbl?

Saands, I like to tighten the barrel slightly more than snug. The basic idea is to get it tight enough so that it will not come loose from the stress put on it from firing, but not so tight as to place undue stress by torquing it as tight as you can. If your threads are good, the torque sholder on the barrel is square and the face of the receiver are square to each other, it will almost ring when it comes togather. If it is a Mauser be sure the shank lenth is correct between the inside ring and the front of the receiver.
The threads should be snug without being overly tight when screwing the action to the barrel.

Put anti-seize compound, or some other similar goop, on the threads. Lean into that sucker - I use one of the two-hand Davidson wrenches that goes inside the action, and I put the barrel in a vise. Have your vise TIGHT.
