Shooter:

The last few times I've been able to buy 22LR ammo it's been a tad over ten cents a round. This has all been in Northern Indiana. The gun shops I frequent near our home in Illinois simply don't have 22LR. What kind of prices are occurring in other parts of the country?

CCI MiniMags @ Wallmart- $7.00 per 100, $.07 per round.

Remington and Federal bulk @ Wallmart about $22-$25 per brick, $.04-.05 per round.

LSG has 500 round bricks of CCI MiniMags $70.00, $.14 per round.

Dicks prices seem to be inline with Wallmart.

For the most part, I won't pay more than 10 cents per round. Rarely 12.

I had an otherwise reasonable shop last week try to charge me 30 cents a round for CCI Mini mags

Wal-Mart last week. 525 federal $20.97 or so. Right place, right time I guess. I understand being out of stock, and I understand choices and if people will pay it them let them. I saw the way cheaper than dirt was gouging people and I was astonished. I bought one Federal 325 can at cabelas was $24 I think. CTD was charging $139 ish for the same can. And they sold out!!

For the past 6 months I've paid $0.04 per round and that is including sales tax.

Fleet Farm in Brainerd, Minnesota gets 22lr ammunition every couple of weeks but it doesn't last more than 2 or 3 days. Their shelves are full of commerical ammunition from 416 Rigby to 380's and everything in between at reasonable prices. Their powder and reloading component selection doesn't have much but then again neither does anyone else in the area.

They are well stocked on AR's, rifles and handguns as well.

Most of my local shooting buddies won't buy from Treat Us Like Dirt, on principle.
I might have to go out and have a look at local prices. I think the last box of 525 I bought was $38, but that was two years ago.

Of all the LGSs I've been to lately, only two have had any .22 LR at all. One wanted $7.50 for a 50 round box of Stingers, and the other wanted $10 for a 50 round box of Federal standard velocity and $12.50 for 50 rounds of RWS Target.

I haven't seen any .22 LR at the local Wallyworld in over two years.

I won't pay more than $0.10/round, which means I haven't purchased any for a long while. One LGS has it for $20/box of 50 (CCIs). Online seems to be $0.16+.

900 rounds in inventory, going fast.:(

I really don't get why people would spend as much (or even close to as much) per round for .22LR than 9mm, especially unreliable, bulk .22LR. I could understand it when there was no 9mm to be found, but now it's pretty easy to find 9mm at prices in line with what they would have been without last year's panic.

Before I paid $139 for a 325 box of .22, I'd go buy a Hi-Point 9mm Carbine that I could shoot for $.25 per round.

EDIT: I got 9 boxes of CCI MiniMags over a few months of looking at Walmart for regular prices. I've decided not to buy or shoot any until stock returns to normal. It's easier to find center fire, anyway.
