Hi much do you guys dry fire to smooth things out? While mine is not bad at all, smoother is always better! What say you?

You can dry fire the Ruger till you have Popeye forearms and not hurt the gun. It may help some to smooth things out. Depends on how much it needs. many are already pretty smooth.

If you are mechanically inclined, watch some you-tube on smoothing the action and give it a try (on the conservative side). To sneak up on the smoothness as it were.

There are manifold benefits to dry fire, but it's no substitute for a bona fide action job. If it needs one, get one. JMHO.

As MrBorland stated, there is a member on the Ruger forum that has a detailed instruction on how to do a trigger job yourself, AS LONG AS YOU THINK YOU can handle the disassembly and reassembly of the revolver

Iowegian's Book of Knowledge has been a good resource for GP100 owners. Use your Google Fu, and you'll likely be able to download a pdf copy.

There are a number of youtube vids, but I can't comment on any of them. When used with the IBOK, they're likely good visual aids.

Try here, www.shootingusa.com Look at the pro tips and look for Jerry Miculek. He is currently the IRC Champion and that is 21 years in a row being IRC Champ. The best revolver shooter in the world.
