How much $ do you spend a month to shoot?

I was just wondering how much others spend to shoot in a month. Mainly I'm talking about -
1.)Range fees
2.)Ammunition cost
3.)Targets, cleaning supplies, etc.

My breakout is as follows:
1.) $20
2.) $100 (300 handgun, 300 rifle)
3.) $10
Total $130/month

1. Range fee 35$ per year = 3$ per month

2. Ammunition = 500 rounds .223 $60 -- 100 rounds 9mm $13 -- 50 rounds .50AE $50
--------------------------
$123 per month

3. Targets, cleaning supplies,ect
$30 bucks for cleaning stuff per year
$240 for MGM double Lolli-popper
--------------------------------
$23 per month

Grand Total not including guns and parts

$150 dollars a month

1. Range Fees $60 a year for three clubs. $5 a month.
2. Ammo, varies too much. With a new gun, I'll buy a variety of factory ammo. For plinking, I'll use mainly my handloads. I shoot too much to buy all factory ammo.
3. Cleaning supplies, varies month to month. This month I spent about $25. Targets I spent about $60. I do print out a ton of my own targets (work laser-jet printer).

Good question.

This year his much higher for me, I'm getting into Service rifle and buying lots of equipment, beside all the other shooting I'm doing. Building two new rifles, and I need Kowa yet.

I've averaged about $800-900 a month for the last 4 months and I don't see it slowing down below $600 for a couple of more. Even without this surge it's a minimum of $200 a month.
Right now all I do is work, load, shoot, sleep. Ah what a life if I didn't have to do the first four letter word eh?

Ain't been shooting since December. Probably cost me close to $65 that month but I was renting Glocks to try 'em out and shooting at a place where I'm not a member.

For my gun club, Barry county Conservation club {shameless plug} for a regular person 40.00 bucks a year for me being a life member nothing

Ammo I buy in bulk, reload my own about 10.00 buck a 100.

Targets & cleaning supplies about 10.00 bucks a month.

* I mostly shoot in the desert, and it's about twice a month. $0
* about $40
* still on original cleaning kit and large bag of patches. $15 about 8 months ago. I use a buddy's steel targets.

$12 a month for the range.

When I'm shooting .357 SIG, it's $45 a week (200 rounds), .380 and 9mm is $22 each for 200 rounds.

Long story short, hmmmm, around $200 in ammo a month.

I've spent most of my lifetime shooting, let's say 500 months. I've spent 4 years on active duty with the U.S. Navy during unplesant times. That would be 48 of the aforementioned 500 months. I've spent over 50K on firearms and I could not possibly tell you how much on ammo and reloading gear and components. I've spent quite a bit of time promoting The Second Amendment by spending untold sums supporting pro gun groups.

I need your help with the math. For recreational shooting I usually get to go twice a month but the rounds expended vary from none to well over a thousand ".22 rf included"

Up to 200 a month, I guess.
I havent broken it down really... A couple times a year a buy a bunch of cases of ammo and burn through it as I may. When I run low again - I buy more.
For example, with my FAL, I have already launched over 700 rounds... I got about 200 left - and so its time to buy a case or two. Depending on my visa status - 2 to 4 cases of 7.62.
.45, I go through slower... I'll buy a case or two a year - and then regular boxes between.

Yeah - about 200 bucks a month.

George, Man you really need to get into reloading! I you want to spend some more money on a new hobby and have some more fun that is the way to go. I really am sorry for the earlier post but these things to come to mind once in a while.
I do belong to a club, cost 75.00 per year.
I'd rather shoot at camp, cost ???? who knows. My main problem is that even though I live in a rural area range is 60 mile round trip and camp is 180 mile round trip. Truck gets 11.4 MPG and the price of gas is going up!
Best to all.

Not telling !
Wife might read this thread then I'd be in "it" to my armpitts. ;)
Suffice it to say a few 3rd world countries could be armed for a year on what I shoot per month. :D

range fees 2@ 7.00 per time = 14.00
ammo 30.00
cleaning gear < 4.00 for three weapons
BUT I spend about 50.00 extra bringing other people

Hankl - I know... I know... Even my wife said I need to get into that. The problem is this:
Buy ammo, costs more, but takes 5 minutes.
Roll ammo, cost less, but takes a few hours.

Sometimes time is worth more than money.
And with my wife shooting more and more, the money factor has been increasing. I was looking at a couple progressive reloading presses - not a bad investment and it will pay its self off and make me money within 6-8 months. Its not a bad option.
Problem with those machines, you gotta take the time to set them up, and then crank them out till you run out of brass or primers or what ever - then set it up again.
Is there a Progressive that's self cranking?
a full automatic loader? Because if there is one for around 500 bucks, I'ld be very interested in it! See - I need to be able to set it up, flip the switch, and walk away.
Better than rolling my own, buy my rounds from a Reloader. If that Reloader can roll Match Grade ammo with the consistancy of factory premium ammo.

Sorry George, I doesn't quite work exactly that way. You can spend more money but gain a new hobby at the same time! I've been trying to duplicate M 118 Special Ball for years and can't quite get it myself but have had fun trying. After you have been reloading a while you will figure out what you should purchase and what to do yourself. Stay knee deep in brass at any rate.
Best to all,
Hank

fastforty,

My wife doesn't care what I spend, but that's because she's always worked and we don't look over each others shoulders at checkbooks. Besides, I gave up smoking years ago, then beer, so I'm only spending "that" money ;)

Am I grasping here?
