How much disc space for Quickload?

Just want to know how much disc space the actual Quickload program and database takes up on the hard-drive.

I am planning on partitioning my Mac HD using the Bootcamp feature and to do so, I need to know how many KB/GB it takes up.

I'm hoping to eventually be able to run On Target and Quickload on that partition.

I'll also need to choose an edition of windows to run them both on, hopefully without having to buy the newest, dearest Windows 8

I would hope the Quickload people would specify disk space requirements. I don't see it on the Neco site, you might have to take the drastic measure of asking them.

"New CD-ROM version 3.8 requires Windows XP, Vista, W-7, W-8."

I don't think I have heard anybody to say he liked Windows 8 and I plan to avoid it. The local computer service shop says if you have W7, wait until some experience is built up with W10. If you have W8, get W10 immediately.

Since you are running on a Mac, I would think W7 would be plenty.

Windows 10 start shipping at the end of July, but it is a free upgrade to owners of 7 and 8 for the first year, I believe. I got notice on my 7 system to sign up for it. But I'd wait and avoid the prospect of layering one install on another, which uses a lot of space.

The old version, which I run rather than getting the new version because it is still supported with database updates, is about 16 megabytes. Not a huge program.

I don't know how it is in Estonia, but here I can go get a refurbished PC from Mircrocenter that already has either Windows 7 or 8.1 on it for little more thant Windows costs by itself. Mind you, it's bare-bones, so no monitor. And it may or may not come with keyboard and mouse. I see one from a lease program with Windows 7 Pro for $149. I see a refurbed DEll laptop for $249, also with 7 pro. Both 64 bit machines and versions. Anyway, none of these programs requires speed of a serious sort, so the used route may serve perfectly.

I just don't know anything about the PC market where you are. I found this small directory of Estonian used PC dealers.

The 10 year old computer on my left is running Quickload just fine on Vista.
The new computer on my right is running Windows 8.1 and will soon get a new Quickload program.
I have been running Quickload for 15 years, usually with hand me down computers from my son, and I have never had a problem. That is 4 or 5 computers.

Thanks. A few MB is fine then. I'd emailed them but no answer yet and I need to know soonish as my dad is coming over and such items tend to be cheaper elsewhere. Windows 7 sounds like the best compromise.

I agree with Jim. Avoid Win 8. Win 7 is very stable.

I, too, was warned off of Windows 8 when I bought QL two years ago. I run QL in Windows 7 on my iMac with Parallels and it performs flawlessly.
