How much can I sell this handgun for?

So I don't want to get too into the history of it but anyways I have a Kel Tec P-11 virtually brand new. It has only been racked a few times, the trigger has never been pulled, never had any rounds in it and I have 2 10 round magazines for it. I know that as soon as someone owns a firearm it's already considered used so whatever that's fine. It's got the Coyote Tan frame but everything else is standard for it. I decided I didn't want it because while I was out with a friend a little while back I ended up shooting his and I found it too snappy for me. Otherwise I liked it, they seem to carry nice in an uncle mikes size 1 iwb holster. I'm hoping to get $225 for it. Do you think this is asking too much or too little? I'm just not sure.

Look on gunbroker.com for comparable and that gets you an Internet price. Local should be close but lower.

60 - 75% of what you paid for it is typical....even though it has not been fired.

Hang onto it for a few yrs maybe - if they get more popular & retail prices go up 10-20%, you'll get a little more / of course if they lose popularity, it'll go down too...

If they're popular in your area - and dealer can easily sell it - they might take it in trade on another gun & you won't pay sales tax on trade in value...that might be better for you...

My dealer sells for 180 to 200 depending on condition . Lot of people going to the PF-9 couple less rounds but a way better trigger. I prefer the PF-9 my self.

Just checked Gunbroker: Ones that actually sold were mostly from $142.00 to a little over $200.00. All were listed as NIB items.

Good luck getting $225.00, but location does have an influence as well.

Also, some folks will pay more if it's an "off paper" deal.

As gyvel, said, a local FTF sale, not incurring FFL delay and xfer fees may allow a higher price for convenience. Armslist or another service may be your friend, or GB with a location/local sale only may work.

$225 would be a stretch for a used but unfired P11. F2F is your best bet. Probably somewhere around $200 if you get lucky.

As an aside, the P11 is one of the smallest & lightest 9mm's around that can hold 12+1. If the snappy recoil is a bother, a piece of heavy foam tape on the bottom of the beaver tail and/or backstrap helps a lot.

FTF is the way to go to try to get the best price. I recently sold a PT-92, which I got for about $475 if you count the value of my trade in. They actually go for $375 or so now. Anyway, I sold mine for $525, but also included $150 worth of accessories for it to get it there. It took me about a month and several deals falling through to sell it. You have to decide if you want the most money or you want the money sooner.

Never forget the guy who knows zip about guns. Of course, you are taking advantage of someone's ignorance, but, at the same time, you're not putting the gun to his head, either. That's a matter for you and your conscience to decide. If you offer something to Mr. X for "Y" dollars, and Mr. X agrees to pay "Y"dollars, then I don't see a problem. The lack of research is his problem, and he can always say "no."

Without being specific, living in the Southwest, my state is full of people who have very little knowledge of American customs.

Since these people are unaware of Craig's List, Gunbroker, Bud's Guns, et. al., they often pay much more than a gun is worth due to ignorance. I think this is generally how pawnshops stay in business.
