How much are pre-ban Beretta 92 mags these days?

Over the weekend I stopped by the local gunshop to see what was new. The owner said he'd just received some pre-ban Beretta 92 magazines in like-new condition. So I thought, wow, that's for me, until I saw the price: $85 each!

Ouch! Is $85 really what these mags are going for nowadays?

That sounds very high. I saw some new 15 rounds MecGars (they make the mags for Beretta) for $45 at a show this weekend. Used prebans were selling for $30. You've got to check Shotgun News or go to shows.

So many pistols, so little money.

Dave--the last Georgia Arms mail order catalog lists pre-ban (11-round) Beretta 96 mags for about $60 each. I don't know if they're still available, but GA's toll-free number is 1-800-624-6861.

HTH.

I never pay more than $45 for 92FS preban mags. Hit the gun shows, you should be able to find some for below $50...

I've seen them as high as $75 for 15 rnd mags. Like the others said, get em at the gun shows. You'll save a lot of money.

I bought a bunch in Sept in CA, when the prices were real high - they listed at $60 - but I am a "frequent buyer" (...) and I got them for $50. I also see them listed on the web for $45 -$65.

I'd say that $85 is pure gouging.

I few months ago at a gun show i got 2 pre-ban 15rd brand new factory italian mags for just $40 each. he said he got them from something having to do with the military M9 mags but i think their pre-ban. he had them hiding behind the counter and if i didn't ask then i wouldn't have gotten them. just goes to show you gotta shop around to get good prices. they usually run around $50 at gun shows but thats and i can find pretty easily them for $35 used.

Jimmy, I just bought a pre-ban Itallian 15 round mag at the gun show this past weekend for $38.00. They had a 30 round Beretta itallian mag for $59.00. I saw aftermarket 15 round mags for $21.00. I also saw some factory Beretta 15's for $69.00, so it would pay to check around because those clips are out there by the bucketfuls! No telling for how long though. Sportsmanguide.com has some aftermarket 30 round and 15 round models for under $15.00--Good luck

cplane,

Were those 20 or 30 rounds Beretta preban mags? Those things are rare! The price was a bargain.

DSA has South African pre-ban 15 round mags advertised as Beretta mags for 50 dollars, but they are actually for the Vektor Z88 (a near identical copy of the Beretta 92FS). I bought 2 and they fit my Beretta (though I haven't taken them to the range to test them). The two reasons I bought them were:

1. According to one article, they are exceptionally durable.

2. I plan on buying a Z88 and SP1 (which also uses Beretta 92 mags), and wanted some genuine pre-ban mags to go with them.

The mags are in like-new condition (possibly refinished, but no dings or pitting), and have a thicker baseplate on them (they don't fit into the Beretta's factory case). They also have the LIW (Afrikaner for Lyeltton Engineering Works) logo on them. And DSA advertises in Shotgun News.

Thanks for the info everyone. I appreciate the reality check--$85 seemed high, but I thought maybe I was just behind the times. ;)

tecolote, The mags I saw were 15&30 round. I did not know they had made a 20 round model.I may have to try one of the cheap aftermarket clips from sportsmanguide.com, If it doesn't perform I can always return it!
