How much ammo?

When carrying concealed, I usually bring along one reload (either in a spare magazine or speedloader or whatever) and when going away on a trip, I usually double the amount of ammo that I have on hand -- instead of 2 magazines (one in the gun & one reload), I'll bring 3 spares (for a total of 4 mags -- 3 spares & 1 in the gun). Is this enough? Too little? What do others do?

Seems to me, you're in good shape, Fud. Reasonable to me.

I carry a Colt .45acp L.W. Commander, and USUALLY, one spare eight round mag. If I go out into certain areas, I add a double mag pouch for three extras. No matter, I ALWAYS carry extra rounds.

If I'm in the boonies, where there are bears (and in Idaho, there are plenty of bears, mountain lions, and now, wolves), I carry either a S&W 57 .41 mag, or Ruger Blackhawk .45 L.C., with heavy handloads. I always carry extra rounds for those revolvers.

It works for me. J.B.

Normally have two or three loaded guns at hand; off-body gun has three mags, two on-body guns, no reload on body...no, not paranoid.

I always have a trunk gun when traveling. I also carry several thousand rounds of ammo for my primary weapon in the trunk as well. Of course, I mostly travel to shooting related events

I carry a 45ACP, 8rd clip with 1 in the chamber. 2 spare 8rd mags, one with JHP on me and one with FMJ in my car. On long trips I carry my Winchester 1300 20 gauge in a velcro starps on the inside top of my car trunk (between rear speakers).

I guess I'll be the one to fly in the face of convention. Go ahead. You won't be the first ones to tell me I think a little bit different.

I don't carry spares. I don't like the extra equipment and I don't plan on being in an extensive fire fight. I'm not a LEO. Statistics say most indicents end long before one is round-deficient. I'll go with statistics. If I were an LEO, I'd feel much differently.

I don't carry spares either. I figure that two 100-round drums (one in each Thompson 1927 that I carry in hip holsters) would be sufficient. :)

I always carry at least 2 spare mags for my Gold Cup, I should be getting the license for my little DKL back up soon and I will carry a spare for that to.I am not a LEO but I would rather have too much ammo than too little. One of the nice things about a single stack is that spares are easy to carry.

the cool thing about 1911's is that your skinny magazines can be concealed everywhere.
I'd say two spares for carry four in competition (those steels are murder)

I usually go for count of 24 rounds with any handgun I have, so for the colts that's 3,the hi-power that's 2 etc etc.

I mostly carry my G33 off duty/concealed with one +2 mag with one in the hole(12 rounds total) of Federal 125gr JHP's to get me to the truck, where I have either my G22 full of Federal 155gr Hydra-Shoks or my G31C full of more 125gr JHP's.

Short of a situation involving four or five opponents in a gun fight I don't feel undergunned with 12 rounds of .357SIG. It's like having a .357mag six shooter and a speed loader, only I don't have to reload. :)

On duty I carry 46 rounds total for my G22 and the G33 with 12 rounds on tap. I think that in most scenarios this should get me to the patrol car where the real gunz are! :D
