How much accuracy can I expect out of Henry 45 colt?

Riflemen:
So I've got about two hundred rounds through my Henry Big Boy 45 colt. Shooting with a scope and on a bench rest at 50 yards the groups are eight to nine inches. Will this gun do better?

9 inches off a rest at 50 yards with a scope????
The rifle should be capable of 2-4 inches off a rest at 100 yards without glass, with the right loads.

Have somebody else shoot it to see if it's you. If it is, work on it. If it isn't, ship it to Henry & see if they can find out what's wrong.

My .357 is way better than that and I only use iron sights. Let some else try it and see what is the problem.

At 50 yards you should get no more than a 3 inch group, but even that is big. I would want to see 1-2'' at 50 yards max, especially for a good quality rifle.

Make sure your scope is secured properly and let someone else try it out.

If you've only tried one brand (or load, if you do it yourself) of ammo, try something else. As said above, the rifle is capable of much better performance.
