How many uppers for your lower?

I want to find out how many of you have multiple uppers for a single lower. I know the interchangeability is a nice feature, but how many of you really do it?

Also, is there a disadvantage to using the same lower? I'm refering to excessive parts wear, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would think that if you set up an AR with a longer barrel for high accuracy, you wouldn't want to use the same lower for your short carbine upper. Would this example, slow fire (single shot) vs. rapid fire, affect how the lower operates or wears therefore reducing it's usability. If that makes sense.

Thanks!

I used to have three uppers to one lower. I had a 20", a 14.5 w/muzzle break, and 7.62 X 39. I never had any problems. The lower gets a little more wear, but for the typical shooter that would not be a problem. I would have continued to swap them out, but unfortunately I wasn't born a Vanderbilt and ended up trading two of the uppers for other toys.

usually you start with a rifle
then you find a cool upper
then you find a lower for that upper
then you find another cool upper
then...

I got 3 uppers

1 M4-style upper for Tactical carbine shoots
2 Varmint HB flat top for 'yote hunting
3 DCM upper for service rifle matches.

The lower is ASA w/ A2 stock and Jewel 2-stage trigger.

Started with A2 Shorty, then got me 20' flattop to put a scope on, I reckon' I'll be getin' som'thin' else that tickles my fancy.

one of the nice things about the ar family is that the fit between the upper and lower receivers has very little effect on the function or accurracy of the gun...it's just irritating.

1. 16" SS HB w/flattop
2. 16" fluted w/flattop and wild colors
3. 16" w/flattop and red dot

For my pre-ban CAR lower, a 7.62X39, 9mm, and a 11+5.5" shorty.
For the preban A2, a 20"HBAR and SP1 upper.
My two postbans have target uppers on them and I leave them alone.

I Will Be The Devil's Advocate Here
First, I am going on a hunt for a good lower to match up with an upper that I have. The only orphan in the group!
Taking them apart and putting them together will only induce more wobble??? between the parts. When your grip, cheek weld, etc. etc. vary from shot to shot ????? :D
The Less Slop The Better

more wobble...

but as long as the relationship of the barrel, bolt and sights remain the same; and you hold the same sight picture...so what?..other then being irratating.
