In congress, the term is two years. In the senate, it's 6. I believe that 1/3 of the seats are turned each cycle.
There are enough seats up every two years to shift the party balance or even to really turn around the entire government trend IF we found among ourselves the right people to run for office AND turned out the gun owners & patriots to VOTE!

Every two years the entire house of representatives (435 seats) and 1/3 of the senate (33 or 34 seats) is up for re-election. That means every two years the voters of this country have the opportunity to completely change its government and the direction of that government.
Every two years we have the opportunity to throw the bum out. Problem is, we want to throw out the other guy's bum, not our bum.
