How many rounds have you put thru your Sig ??

About 2500 rds of 9mm through my P228: Win USA, commercial reloads, CorBon and a ton of 124gr Gold Dots. Function was 100% flawless until a couple hundred rds ago, when i started monkeying around with the springs. Premature lockback and a few failures to lock. :o

A Sig220 in 45 ACP.

I 've had it for about 11 years and has almost 28,000 rounds through it now. 90-95% were my reloads consisting of 200gr SWC cast bullet at 890 fps. I've had less than 10 FTF with this reload but I never had any problem with factory ammo.

I've changed the recoil spring every 3,000-3,500 rounds but that is it. Completely factory stock.

I purchased a 1991 W. German Sig P 228 from a local Sheriff. He had put about 10,000 rounds through it, he thought? I purchased it in 1996 and have since put about 12,000 rounds through it, maybe more. I don't really keep up, but since I've owned it, I shoot it no less than once a week, 100 rounds each trip and then compete with it two to three times a month. I would say that 22,000 is a safe bet.

As for malfunctions, the only ones I've had were all ammo related. With cheap ammo it will sometimes not lock back on the last round and of course the occasional jam, but only with my reloads, never with good factory ammo.

Everything about my pistol is factory original. The recoil spring, I fear, will have to be replaced soon. The brass basically falls on the ground right next to me in a neat little pile, which is good, but the spring is very weak. The only thing I've replaced were the Trijicon Night sights. They were actually old enough that they were almost burned out. They just weren't very bright, so I put standard sites back on it.

Greeting's All,

My P228 is a 1990 rendition, serial #B111XXX
with approximately 2500 rounds thru it; and
so far its been top notch, without even a
hiicup.:D It too, is of W. German manufacture;
and I haven't changed any part's on it.:)

My P220 is also of W. German manufacture, and
this one is of 1995 vintage; with the "green"
main spring, to digest the hotter load's. She's
been driven approximately 4,000 rounds; also
without a hiicup and no part's change.:D

Just sold a W. German P226, and a P229. Nothing
was wrong with either weapon. In the case of
the P226; I didn't care for the "European" grip.
As for the P229; I don't care for .40 caliber.
The P226 was two tone; both were equipped with
SigLite night sight's, that I could not see in
daylight hours.

Best Wishes,

GO TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER'S

Sig P229. Shot about 6000 rounds of various .40S&W through it with no problems.

Dropped in a .357 Sig barrel conversion and it's still going strong after 2000+ rounds. Might upgrade to Wolff +10% springs though.

Read in Handgun Mag of a 5000 round torture test of the P220 in .45ACP, needed some severe bore cleaning but still grouped fine afterwards.

P220 .45 acp - 875 (+/- "a few"), no malfunctions

P225 9mm - 320 (exact count), two stovepipes within first 50 rounds, no other malfunctions

P226 9mm - 4,500 (+/- 100), no malfunctions

P228 9mm - 850 (+/- 50), no malfunctions

P229 .40 S&W - [Traded] 500 (exact count), constantly failed to fully go into battery because of a tight chamber. New owner was made aware before trade.

Three out of five with a perfect record. The P229 was accurate, just frustrating.

Sig P226 9mm(New "blackend" stainless side)- 2,500 rnds- ZERO MALFUNCTIONS

Sig P225 9mm(K-Kote,Night Sights)-1,500 rnds- ZERO MALFUNTIONS

SIGS ARE THE BEST!

:D

I bought my first SIG back around 1980. It's a P226 in 9mm. I've probably put 5000+ rounds through it and cannot recall any malfunction (except when I used some underpowered reloads).

I also bought a P239 in 9mm and am still breaking it in.

Both work great and I highly recommend SIGs.

On my P220, I'd say about 800 rounds and ZERO jams or malfunctions since I bought it in March this year. Looking forward to go again soon.
