After reading some of the posts in which the effects of a bullet wound are assumed, it caused me to wonder just how many people here have actually been shot at some point in their life.

I've provided Yes, No and Other in case you have a unique circumstance that needs to be explained in the post.

I expect that the only people who will answer "Yes" are those who have actually had a bullet (I'll also take arrows) enter their body. For purposes of this poll, I don't think we should count being shot at and having a ballistic vest or something else intercept the bullet.

Did it enter your body? If so, it meets the criteria I set out.

I would hope in the case of a ricochet, the person responding would explain it in a post in the body of the thread. I've seen a ricochet cause a wound that put someone in the hospital. But, if we're talking about a ricochet that just broke the skin and caused some superficial bleeding - you know, the kind of "wound" John Kerry claimed for his Purple Heart - I wouldn't want to go to a DAV or VFW gathering and try to claim that as being the same thing as really being shot.

I think I explained what I was looking for pretty clearly.

You were the one that got shot. I wasn't there to see what happened or inspect your wounds. And I'm certainly not going to try and second-guess your assessment. So, I think you're the only one who can say for sure whether or not you think it counts.

The BB hit my collar brass and cracked the enamel.
 
1970's era Daisy Powerline A.D. Right through my Wrangler jeans and into my thigh. Pellet is still there in an elaborate tale to protect my neighborhood buddy that tagged me.
Dang near hit me in the nads.
 
Not shot but shot at

Two guys in a back alley late one night, bullet was close enough that I could hear it zing by my ear. It would have been a text book example of a self defense situation had I been armed. But at the time, I wasn't (not even a knife). I had the distinct impression I had stumbled across a mugging. I was to be the next target if not victim. After that, I became alot more aware of my surroundings where ever I went.
 
While shotgun deer hunting with a so-called buddy about 10 years ago, I heard a 12 gauge slug whiz by me and slam into a tree beyond me. I believe the SOB shot at me but of course, he denied it and feigned ignorance.

Needless to say, I don't hunt with him any more.

I caught some glass shards in the hand from a broken bottle while slingshot target shooting with another kid from my scout troop back in the '70s. He fired the shot that broke the bottle and I caught the flying glass to the back of my hand. There was a good bit of blood. He did first aid as best he could and I wrapped it up and kept quiet about it all these years. I still have the scar and my blood stained wrist rocket. This was a genuine accident. I'm just glad I didn't get it in the eye.
