How many mag's do you suggest?

With the costs high and rising, how many magazines do you want to have for your pistols? I would think, if possible, one would be wise to purchase a number of full capacity mag's while it remains feasible.

I've heard four (4) should be the minimum? Your thoughts?

Thanks. Regards from AZ

4 if you buy into the rotation thing or just replace the springs every couple years and not worry about it!
I carry various 1911`s of the single stack kind ,although i do have a Para p13 with a few high caps i only use it on the range .
I feel that the standard 8 rounders are plenty. If you need more than that ,then you need something a handgun cannot provide.

my 2 cents

Yes I do rotate my mags. I use 6 as a minimum because I carry one in the gun, and 2 spares. :) My advise is to get as many hi-cap mags as you can while you can. At least while we have to endure this silly ban.

9 mags -- here's my logic{?} (which others are free to disagree with) ...
1 mag in the gun and 2 spares. every change of season, I empty out those 3 mags and load up a second set so 3 mags are for Winter/Summer and another 3 are for Spring/Fall -- that's a total of 6. Plus another 3 which I keep totally fresh (except for initially testing them out to make sure that they worked properly in the beginning).

Share what you know, learn what you don't -- FUD.

How many you OWN is different than how many you CARRY. And some magazines may one day be more valuable than the guns they were made for. Buy what you can afford.

But you should always have two spares.

I try to have four to six hi-caps for each pistol--four is fine, but six feels more comfortable to me. Unfortunately, however, at current prices I'm glad to have just two.

I agree with the concensus. I try to have 5 to 6 magazines that are 100% reliable. Preferably factory original.

I started out with three per gun but I picked up extras when the budget permited. And now have more than I will probably ever use. You can never be too rich, too good looking, or have too many firearms or highcap mags :D

I like to have 7 or 8 for each model. Two carried daily (1 in gun), and two for rotating to carry every other month or so. The other 4 are reserved for TRAINING ONLY. These are the ones that get dumped in the mud, kicked around in the sand, land on the feed lips, get the tact reload practice (oops! dropped one almost full! sproing!!), etc etc. The magazine is THE number one component that can go FUBAR with your pistol. And considering the current political oppression concerning high capacity magazines, use those cheaper "legal" ten rounders for training. Stay safe.

I must be the odd ball in the group. I have (15) Wilson 8 round mags and (10) 7 round mags for my 1911's. I also have 25-30 other 1911 mags ranging from Les Baer to Colt. I have all those mags for one reason: I'm lazy.
When I go to the range, I hate loading ammo. By having a ton of mags, I just load and shoot.

When I'm at home, that's the time to load the mags. Not at the range. If the mags wear out, so be it. I just buy new ones.

I carry a compact 1911 with a 7 round Wilson and a 8 round spare.
