How many jewish TFL members here???

I was just wondering from the "minority" post a few days back, if there are other jewish TFL members here, or if you know of any Jewish gun owners. I know of the JPFO, which I am a member. I know many jewish people get a bad rap, b/c of their liberal leanings, but there are a lot of us out there who care about this country. Fellow members chime in.

By the way I will not be voting for my fellow jew LIEberman, and I'd say 90% of my synagogue will not be either.

I've got a good friend who is one of those Chanuka, Yom Kippur (sp?) reform Jews. They were as liberal as liberal gets until they were broken into. They were mad that the high dollar security system, and the HUGE black lab they bought didn't protect them (suprise!!! I haven't seen too many labs that would do much more than lick the robber), so they became "gun-nuts." I loved it. They called my father for suggestions, and then they promptly all went out and paid good money for excellent lessons. Now I fear the poor fool that breaks into their house. Funny how they discovered that owning guns is very Jewish! Now they almost make me mad 'cause they get better guns than I do! I don't know what Jewish in your opinion is though. They don't attend services very regularly.

Fellow member of the Tribe, NRA endowment life member, GOA member, JFPO member and registered Republican. Have a PA licence to carry a firearm.

Two sons that are "gun nuts" too.

OK, this is not quite relevent to the thread but I feel compelled to ask the question...

A Jew (I think non-practicing, secular) lives across the hall in my apt. building. We get along OK. He is an educated man and so am I. But, after he found out that I own guns and intend to do serious panic buying if Gore is elected he wouldn't talk to me for 2 weeks. He also intends to vote for Hillary (ugh).

So, what can be done to help bring him around to a pro-RKBA understanding? He's not stupid, and he's GOT to know that Jews are not yet safe from the genocidal impulse, especially in their homeland. Any suggestions?

Bam-Bam, detain him from voting! Mongfu, JPFO is in my humble (United Methodist) opinion the finest group to fight for our rights. Several months ago after getting totally freaked on a TFL thread I wrote to most of the "major" 2nd amendment groups asking them to get together and develop a national strategy. Aaron from JPFO was the ONLY ONE to respond to my letter. Guess who I joined. Jews For the Preservation of Firearms Ownership! Long live Aaron!

Mongfu their website is www.jpfo.org

Oh and thanks everyone for the replies. Jpfo was created to show to the gun world that all jews weren't as liberal as rob riener and barbara striesand.

Not Jewish, but a member of JPFO.

My Jewish friends are strongly RKBA. Attorneys, writers, insurance brokers ...

If there is one group that amazes me on this issue, it is indeed the liberal Jewish community.

The diamond industry, which is dominated by Jews, has a high number of gun owners (obviously). I'll never forget walking into this diamond dealers office and their he was, Yarmulke, black and white suit, and a shotgun mounted behind his desk. Most don't make firearms their lifestyle, more of a tool, which is why they are not as involved.

Good friend of mine is Jewish. I sold him my BHP in .40 a couple years ago because it was too big for my hands. He loves it. He is a stanch conservative. Plus he tells the best Jewish jokes I have ever heard.

Here. JPFO, NRA, GOAL, U.S. Naval Reserve (Retired).

Qualified as a sharpshooter in the Navy and didn't give small arms much thought for a long time (was a bombardier and spent my time with much bigger stuff). Had my target pistol from the Navy but never used it.

Then... The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts went bugsh*t about the danger of guns and how no one could be trusted with them -- especially the law-abiding. The grabbers started grabbing, and that made me start thinking about guns again -- not specifically about guns, bnut about civil rights, the Constitution, the right to be left the hell alone by do-gooders who want to take you money to solve other peoples' problems, and personal responsibility. I'd had a LTC anyway because of my target pistol (wrapped up in a bix and untouched for years). Took it out and started shooting again. Joined GOAL. Then, went to renew my LTC and the new Chapter 180 Gun Confiscation Laws came crashing down on my head. My town chief of police announced that no one should have a LTC and refused to renew mine, despite my being a retired Navy weapons officer and instructor. That really got me spooled up. Joined NRA and JPFO. Started making a LOT of political noise. Got the attention of my state senator and rep (both pro-gun). Subsequently got my LTC. Then got my BATF Class 03 FFL and started collecting old guns. Really enjoy it, and enjoy taking them to the range for a "smoke and fire" shoot.

Got into a spirited discussion with the rabbi at my synagogue over the "gun free zone" idiocy. I proposed, instead, that we just post a sign that says,
"Unarmed Jews Here! Open Season!."
To be fair, it must have made them think, because there are no signs posted about guns.
And the rabbi has never personally attacked me, as has happened in so many other places.
I may be the only member of my congregation that owns a gun. Pitiful.

Have received letters from the ADL and WJC asking for money to fight anti-Semitism. I have relied, with a personal letter to the presidents of these organizations, that they will get money from me and thousands of other Jews only when they start supporting the Second Amendment. No replies yet, but perhaps they're in the mail...

Woodit, funny you mentioned the ADL. I got an email back from them a few weeks ago. They went after LIEberman for using G-D's name and www.vote.com had a vote on it and asked if anyone had a problem with it. I said I had no problem with it. I wrote tehm back and told them as a jew they don't represent me. I also told them to go to h*ll.

I attended Margaret Mitchell Elementary School which was located in an affluent Jewish neighborhood known as the "Golden Ghetto" by its' residents. My closest friends are ones I first met there. I am not Jewish, but have been given the title of honorary member of the chosen people.
I have also been declared an honorary brother by my black friends.
I am proud of both titles.

Greetings,

Not Jewish, but I am cir..., never mind.

Just this minute joined JPFO for two years. Signed up on line. Motivated by this thread and because I've always enjoyed Ask the Rabbi.

(Check this out, it's hilarious :)

My best friend in high school and roommate in college (same guy) is Jewish and his family always accepted me like another son. His Dad is a hunter and fisherman and Sandy first introduced me to these sports, and to the use of a gun for personal defense. His family had a bunch of guns, of all kinds. Sandy and I were clerks together in his Dad's law firm one summer.

Sandy's Grandma used to sell used clothes, and my Aunt and Uncle were in the dry cleaning business, before WWII. That's how our families first met. All on his own, Sandy's Dad became one of the most sought-after (and well-paid) lawyers in town.

Recently, at his son's Bar Mitzvah, I was asked to help carry Sandy around on a chair .

So, to make a long story short, I'm not Jewish, but I could pass.

Shalom,

Ledbetter
