How long for CMP Garand to arrive?

I sent in my paperwork two weeks ago for a M1 Garand from CMP and got my return envelope stating not to call and check for two weeks. I was wondering what the turn around time was for receiving my M1? About how long do I have to wait to receive this gun? Thanks for you help.

P.S. How are the guns that CMP ship?

Gary is about right, two months give or take a little depending upon workload. Most of the rifles seem to be good, the two I got were quite acceptable. Just don't expect NIB condition.

FWIW: I have called CMP several times about expected shipments, was told about two weeks - both times had the rifle within two days. Go figure.

I mailed my paperwork 12/23 for a Danish Garand. I'm traveling this week, called home today and the wife asks "FedEx was here today, did you get a new gun!?!" er, uh, "No.... not a new gun." Hee, hee.

So, it took about a month including Christmas. -- Kernel

Last year when I ordered one it took right at one month. It was late March when I mailed the paperwork and late April it arrived. One other thing ......... aside from the stock not quite matching (some beech and some walnut)it was very near original and in great shape.

Poor, poor people.... one to two months... ;) As a recently departed someone (he whose name cannot be said) said, "I feel your pain."

When I applied for my first DCM Garand in 1994, it took about a year! I was rewarded with an all H&R M1 Garand.

Do not worry. It is worth the wait. Especially when that big old box comes. :)

"As a recently departed someone (he whose name cannot be said) said, "I feel your pain." " More like a pain in the a.........oh well good riddance to bad rubbish, and on to the Garand arriving. When I ordered mine I was working at a temporary job and the wife was working also, so I had the rifle shipped to my parents for the signature. One month later I got a call from my mother that FedEx had delivered a package for me to her. I flew the 2 miles over there. They did not know what it was but when I opened it I just wish the whole world could see my fathers old eyes light up! He almost snatched it out of my hands and first thing he did was look at the SN and manufacturer (SA) he said "nope it wasn't one of mine the SN is too high". It was made in March of 45. He had done a ton of work on them at Aberdeen during 43 and 44 before going to the ETO. Seeing the look in his 86 year old eyes was enough to justify the then selling price of $400 when he took it in his hands. I told him that he could order one for the then price of $200 for WWII vets but he said no. His thinking was I was the only one he would have wanted to leave it too as my brother is not a Vet, so he said he will give him all the non-military weapons, and my brother in law though he is a vet he also owns his own Garand.

I have one of those Nice boxes they ship them in if anyone wants to get excited. I will ship it to you, cardboard box and foam and maybe a big surprise, darn no gun. But you would have the box to hold at night while waiting. And that was a great deal " Not a New gun" I just don't have a wife to use it on.....You could all ship me your "New" guns and I could ship them back and then I guess you could tell her they were used. Ya right, check her closet for new purses and see what you find and I am sure she got them used.
