How is the Sig 2022 trigger reset?

Hey all,

I've looked online but can't find a video of the Sig 2022 trigger reset. Can someone point me to one or share their experience? How does it compare to the super short PPQ/P99 for example? Is it long like the P30?

Also, what is the weight pull of the single action?

Thanks!

Pull weights can be found on the SIG website. The reset isn't in the same category as a P99 but nor do I remember it being as long as the P30. Somewhere in between. I never found it an issue.

I have a SP2022, HK P30, and PPQ.

Not sure of pull weight but comparable to my other classic P series SIGs.

Reset on the SP2022 is longish like on classic P series SIGs. Nowhere close to that that of a Walther PPQ/P99.

I've read the 2022 comes with an SRT equivalent. So even with that, the reset is longish? Darn. Was thinking of grabbing one...but that's annoying.

I won't lie, I really like my SP2022, for $400 it was a total steal. Build quality is great, night sights rock, seems like a really squared away pistol.

But man, compared to my Berettas and Sig P6, that trigger is crunchy. Reset is longer than my brother's Glocks, as well. More troubling, due to the crunchiness in mine I find the reset hard to detect. I imagine that'll get a bit smoother over time.

I'm not a trigger snob so it's nothing that impacts shootability, but if I was a big trigger guy I would not love my SP2022. Pull weights are good and break is clean but the overall travel is crunchy.

Hmmm. I have a 2008-run PX4 and the trigger is easily better than my SP2022. Let me go grab it and see if the date is indicated.

Okay, the box for my SP2022 indicates it was manufactured September 12, 2014.

I wonder what happened in those years, because my PX4 trigger is leagues beyond. Maybe it's just because I've had 6 years to shoot the PX4 and smooth it out. My SP2022 is still unfired aside from dry fires.

So I just spent a while dry firing my SP2022, and I think maybe my first impressions were too harsh. There IS a definite small tick/crunch halfway through the DA trigger pull, but I'm having a hard time finding as much crunchiness as I felt at first. I'll have to take this thing out for a well-overdue wringing of 500-1000 rounds and see how it settles in.

I am also a defender of newer SIGs, not that they are as good as old, but not as bad as some say. That said I will not buy a new production SIG sight unseen. I have dry fired identical models that came from the factory at the same time and had ones with very good triggers and ones that are mediocre at best. The variability is one criticism I can't deny.

The trigger on my SP2022 is really nice in SA and DA. Mine is a German made SP2022 with the Ilaflon finish.

However to get a hammer fired pistol with a short reset close the Walther PPQ/P99 you will need to consider a SIG with the SRT trigger and there are several models of the P226/P229 that have that.

Shortest DA/SA reset I can think of off the top of my head is 3rd Generation smiths.

Grand Power P1 Mk7 has the shortest stock reset of anything I've fired and/or owned; even the P99 AS/PPQ!

Good to know.

My LGS got in a bunch of NIB 3RD Gneration SWs a few years ago from the estate of a former gun store owner but wanted top dollar for them so I passed.

I did dry fire one but did not check for reset. I clearly remember the DA trigger pull was the best I had ever tried on a factory DA/SA pistol.

Tunnelrat-hahaha thank you. That was funny. :)

Cyanide971-Thanks for sharing the photo of the Grand Power. I am tempted to get one, just not sure on the ability to resale...and man do I change my mind on pistols often. Thanks again, your pics are probably the most informative I've seen in years.

In truth I owned a PX4 in the past. I really have no memory of the reset being anything amazing or terrible. Most DA/SA pistols have a very similar reset to me with the exceptions already mentioned. They are pretty widespread though so I would think you'd be able to go to a local store and try the reset for yourself.
