The BHP is considered by many to be the finest 9mm pistol. The other pistol that is often mentioned is the Glock. I prefer the BHP.

For years i discounted the HP because every factory one handled had that gritty trigger. Finally listned to some one with much more experience, bought one and dis-abled the magazine disconnect, which significantly improves the trigger pull. Also put on houge rubber grips (cheap). For me this is the easiest 9mm to actually hit with. Best "fit in the hand" semi have shot yet, with excellent balance and pointing qualities. Also am of opinion the narrow, smooth trigger has a lot to do with the shooting qualities.

While not the most intrinsically accurate 9mm, in the real world the easiest for me to hit with reliably and a real pleasure to shoot.

The Browning high power is one of the finest pistols ever made. Been in production since 1935 and along with the 1911, one of the most coppied designs. Good sights, and a trigger job make it nearly perfect. If you are thinking of a new one, act soon, as it is my understanding that Browning will not be importing them anymore. If you can't afford a Browning, the CZ-75 is a close second for less money. Good luck

I love mine. Reliable. Accurate. Feels great in the hand. What else is necessary? Plus, the Hi-Power will hold and/or increase in value over time (many other guns won't). Get one and you won't regret it.

Aimsurplus.com has the Israel Security surplus hi-Powers for sale at around 299.

I bought my MKIII last April and love it so much, I'm buying another one as soon as FN takes over importation.

I have had my FN WWII High-Power since 1945. I had the trigger polished up and that's all. It eats what ever I feed it and comes back for more. I have been tempted to try feeding it 3" 12 guage to see if that is it's upper limit.<G>
I have no idea of how many rounds have gone through it. The only stoppages were by bad reloads.

Just bought one and it has been totally reliable. Fits great in my hand and points like an extension of my arm. Nice gun, especially if you lean towards single action's. You can't go wrong. Try it....

Hey DUDE; I've owned my Browning Hi-Power "Practical" model since Oct. of 98; and it's
one of my favorite firearms. :) Very strong
design, and handle's all types of 9m/m ammo
flawlessly. :D It wears the standard Pachmayr
"Signature Series" rubber grip's, making it
a joy to shoot!!! :) :D So, as other's have said, buy one and see the "beauty" for yourself.

Best Wishes,

I have a good friend in L.A., who was a Navy SEAL and did two tours in Vietnam. He carried a Browning Hi-Power there.

He still carries one today. He likes it.

EXCELLENT weapon. Superb design. TOTALLY reliable. All steel. Nothing, but nothing points as well or is easier to shoot.

Mine is the Hi Power Practical. Ambi safety, Pachmayer grips, hard chrome frame.

Hey RAE!

Nice silver chrome and practical! I have a practical myself and have been debating between different types of new stocks. I think your picture sold me on the Uncle Mikes!

BHP MKIII is a great pistol. It's flaws are minor: a magazine disconnect (easily removed) and a relatively long trigger reconnect distance. Balance that against great pointability, all-steel construction, excellent reliability, and very good build quality, an you end up with one of the best (arguably THE best) service 9mm's available.

RAE,
I just drooled on my keyboard.
Those BHP's are beautiful. :)
