How good is the grand power k100 pistol?

The problem with these imported clones, copies, and other similar is that very few are in use and almost zero agencies use them so it is very difficult to get a good reading on one. Another concern is warranty service and parts availability,

So when I read "my XYZ pistol has been flawless for 200 rounds and my buddy's Glock broke" what comes to mind there might be a couple thousand of your XYZ pistols in use and millions of Glocks.

Hopefully a Grand Power owner will be along shorty to give you some personal feedback.

I've got one of the early STI imported GP6s they are most certainly not a clone of anything they use a rotating barrel locking system. Mine is uber reliable and is very easy to control recoil. The DA trigger is smooth enough and reach isn't too bad the SA trigger is amazing and reset is ultra short.

I've heard mostly positive things about it, but have no firsthand experience. I was tempted to get one for the novelty, but couldn't justify the expense or the logistics of having to deal with another set of mags. I believe it's a fairly popular competition gun in Europe.

I've only seen a .22 rimfire Grand Power but was impressed with the quality of the gun.

However, it being a .22 it was blowback and also I was not able to dry fire it. I did ask the shop owner to consider stocking some of the centerfire guns.

I am indeed interested in these.

I don't own one, but I've read nice reviews.

I've seen a couple references in this thread about it being a clone of something else, I don't think that's the case: what I've read is that it has a unique barrel action. Supposedly leads to very smooth recoil, and the guns are well-made.

I think you might have an issue getting parts, but that tends to be an overrated concern, I have quite a few surplus pistols that have been shot a lot, both before and since I've gotten them, and I've never needed "warranty coverage".

Do a search in a couple places: ebay, gunbroker, numrich, wolff springs, etc.
If you can find a couple of firing pins and extractors, and Wolff has springs, I think you're as covered as you need to be for repairs.

Re magazines, check around and see if there are any compatible mags. it might share mags with another gun, if it does you're good. You might find that it has the same dimensions, but a different notch (I have a gun that will fit Beretta mags, but the notch is different); a little dremel work and again, good to go.

following up- I checked over at wikipedia, and it does indeed list the unique barrel action, which is what I thought.

I did find something that made me cringe, and a reason I would avoid it. Here's a quote:
When field stripping models made prior to 2012, the forward part of the trigger guard unlatches from the gripframe and is flexed downward out of the frame. With the forward part of the trigger guard flexed downward, the slide moves farther to the rear than normal and can be pulled to the extreme rear and then lifted up and off the frame. The field strip is roughly similar to the Walther PPK/PPKS fieldstrip except that the triggerguard is not hinged on the K100, instead its polymer construction allows it to flex downward

 So, you pull the trigger guard down, and BECAUSE IT'S PLASTIC, it will bend... yikes! This sounds like a recipe for a break somewhere down the road, or at least a poor fit at some point.

now, the more recent models seem to have a more traditional takedown:
Current production Grand Power pistols use a solid trigger guard and a new take down lever
, so that should be a lot better.

I guess the GP X-Kalibur is the follow-on to the K100. Great pistols, except for the unlocking device for field stripping. Getting it apart is easy. Reassembly is another matter; by the time one positions the barrel correctly, gets the various other parts aligned, pulling down on both sides of the unlocking device while fighting the recoil spring and positioning the slide; it all becomes a real hassle.

The gun really is a near CZ clone, except for the barrel mechanism. And, CZ makes the barrels for GP.

I loved shooting mine.
