How good are the IMI FAL's ?

Thinking about a reasonably priced FAL. Two jump out at me, the DSA STG 58 and the IMI. Which of these two is the best bang for the buck?

Didn't know IMI (or is it IAI?) was making them- first I've heard of it.

...not finding any info on them here. Would appreciate a link, if anyone has it.
 
Okay. It's IAI that has them. They are built on IMBEL receivers, which have a really good reputation. MSRP is just under $900. If the quality is a good on these as it is on the IAI M1 Carbines, this is a real winner. It does have US parts, and so can have a real pistol grip stock instead of a goofy thumbhole type.

DSA has more experience with FAL's, but I would probably look at price. I would (and probably will) go for the IAI if there is more than $100 difference in what I can get them for. I already have my FAL mag stash. :D
 
Do they have the light wheight barrel?

If they do, and you get into a prologed firefight, one 67 vet told me his barrel bent on him. Could have been a freak thing, who knows how many rounds he blasted off, I don't know if you want the light wheight...just an old annecdotal story.
