TE, While I won't be the one to hit the tri-angle button on this thread but...
Personal freedoms is a far cry from just 2A rights thus I do not see the gun related or gun related laws and civil rights connection...
Plus these numbers could be easily skewed...
For instance the louisiana laws against britches showing boxer shorts... is that included...

Geeze, the way life should be eh? I'm surprised to see Maine so low and just a few miles separate me from the freest state.

It's not so bad here. I'll have to check out the links to see why we're so far down the line.

Surprised about NY though. I woulda figured California.

"Rankings were determined by measuring the personal and economic freedoms of the citizens of the various states coupled with the size and cost of government, education regulations, Second Amendment restrictions, as well as the amount of interference via regulations and police agencies on the populace."

These have nothing to do, directly, with freedom.

NY ranks at the bottom of the list due to high taxes, education regulations and size and cost of government. None of those things are equal to "freedom" in my mind. High taxes and big government suck? Yep, sucks a lot. Not a freedom issue. Guess who keeps putting the idiots back in office? The FREELY voting, freely living in NY state, NYers.

NY is not nearly as bad as it's reputation would have people believe. Far too many people think that NY = NY City, which it decidedly does not. The rest of the state is very nice indeed.

In short, I'm calling this BS.

I think personal freedom qualifies for this forum.
Read Only Archive - Round table discussions range from the Bill of Rights, to concealed carry, to general political issues.
Freedom should be a general political issue if it isn't already.
