How many rounds should I expect to fire from my Beretta 92FS before something breakes? Is this pistol more or less durable than Glock 19? :)

Beretta 92FS

Irfan, I've carried my 92FS for over 10 years, put god knows how many rounds down range....and haven't broken one thing on it. It has shot everything I have loaded in it, factory, reloads....rounds other guns have choked on....and it goes bang everytime. I think in those 10 years I have had 2 misfires.....and that was from very, very crappy ammo.

2 of my favorite pistols are the 92FS and Glock 19. i feel they're both just as accurate and reliable but i would give the edge in durability to the Glock.

Glocks will basically last forever but berettas, when not comparing them to glocks, are very durable guns.

the part of berettas that get the most stress put on them is the locking block. beretta says the locking block's life is around 20,000 but this is with hot NATO ammo. also the locking block is very easy and cheap to replace. many people have gone way over 20,000 without replacing the locking block. the rest of the gun is quite durable and i'd say the minimum you should expect is around 70-80,000 rounds but don't quote me on that. i've heard of people that have over 125,000 rounds thru their berettas and they're still going strong.

I've got more than 5000 rounds through my 92, I bought it used. It shows no sign of wear. I read an earlier post somewhere here, it said that Ted Nugent has put 100,000 through his 92.

The Beretta will last a long time. Just make sure that you check the locking block every few thousand rounds and replace as necessary. If you've got a new Beretta then that won't even be a problem for many years.

Hey Nerdfan,

Did you find your answer yet? You can stop wasting bandwidth on EVERY forum of EVERY gun website on your inane Beretta vs. the world posts. :barf: :barf: :barf:

Issue guns with mil-spec M882 NATO ammo (About 36,250 psi, in the SAAMI +P range) are going about 17,500 for blocks, 35,000 for frame, 70,000 for slides. Expect more with SAAMI std pressure ammo (less than 35,000 psi).

Local USAF base has about 30,000 through most of it's guns, rarely break a block, rarely under 15,000, have never broke a slide.
