I have a standard AR with a 1:9 twist rate. I know this is supposed to be good for bullets around 55gr. I also know that it may not be quick enough to stabilize a heavier bullet. However, what if I wanted to try shooting some lighter bullets say 36gr. How would the quick twist affect these?

36 grain is what 22 LR use.
There are 36gr .224 bullets for centerfire rifles as well. In fact, some are even lighter, down to 30 gr.

If you drive a light bullet fast enough out of a fast twist barrel, it may fly apart on exiting the barrel from too much rotational force.
I have also heard that the faster the twist, the harder it is to achieve top velocities..... and pressure goes up because the bullet is harder to get going.... made sense to me when I heard it.....
