How do you use a sling?

Ok, so I got a kit for my Mossberg 500a, and put a sling on it. Wanted to be able to carry and shoot quickly. Here is my problem though, I can't figure out how it's best to carry (back, side, other), and how to ready the gun using the sling properly (shooting stance). If anyone has a picture of how to hold it at ready w/ sling, and at rest w/ sling I would be gratefull.

Thanks

Check out the May 2006 issue of "Shooting Times" if you can. There is an article entitled "A Shotgun for Self-Defense: Versatile" by Sheriff Jim Wilson. He recommends the African carry. Each movement is shown in a picture. Basically, you carry the shotgun on the weak shoulder, muzzle end down, hand on the forend. Allow the shotgun to slide to your forearm, with your hand still on the forend. Quickly transfer the shotgun to your dominant side, and up to your shoulder.
I tend to keep the leg on my strong side a little in front of my weak, and slightly bent. The weak sight is pretty much lined up with my butt, and slightly bent. I'm no expert and I hope this helps.

I've used the weak shoulder, muzzle down carry for years, and it is very fast, and the sling naturally comes in to position. The only thing to beware of, is crouching down with the gun on your shoulder. You could stick the barrel in the ground. A little practice, to get used to it, is all that is needed to adapt.
