How do you measure sight height?

When you get asked a ballistics program how high your sight is where do you measure from? For a gun with a scope on it do you measure all the way to the top of the scope or just to the center of the lens? How dumb have I just made myself out to be?
 
YOU ARE NOT DUMB OR ANYTHING OR ARE YOU TRYING TO TELL US THAT AN INCH HIGH OR LOW AT 400 YDS IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION?
 
Mike's right... Center of bore to center of lense. You can be a *little* `sloppy' and unless you are after *extreme* precision it isn't going to make any diff. (It won't make much diff until you *really* start putting the `yardage' on. {GRIN!} And *if* you are doing that you should already know your scope height anyway 'cause you aren't doing that with an `off the shelf' / `buy it at your local sporting goods store' rifle anyway.)
