How do you grip the Sig P938? Ride the safety?

Typically when I shoot my 1911's, Hi-Powers and now my Sig P938 I draw the pistol click off the safety and commence to firing whilst my thumb rides the safety. (as opposed to moving it below the safety)
This is proving to be a problem with the P938. The safety gouges into my thumb as it recoils. Is anyone else experiencing this? It bothered me enough at the range today that I wonder if I should sell it. I didn't have time to "toy" with my grip. I simply went from shooting my Shield to shooting the P938. After shooting about 20 rounds I left....doubting the future of the P938 in my rotation. I'm reluctant to give it up because it is my only pocket carry gun right now. The shield is a bit larger. I do have some .380's to pocket carry but the Sig is my only 9mm for the job.

I frequently shoot (and carry) a sig p238 which is almost the same gun. I generally slide my thumb past and under the safety in the motion of flipping it to fire. I find that this is the most comfortable, and accurate way to shoot it for me. You're probably able to get away with your thumb riding the safety on the larger guns because there is simply more room. The 938 is a tad bit more cramped than a full size 1911:D

Adjust your grip. Riding the safety is not a requirement especially on the P938.
I have Hogue rubber grips and always use the extended magazine on my P938 so that I have a longer grip on the frame.

I never ride the safety on any of my guns. I have arthritis in my thumbs and cannot rotate my thumbs outward over the safety. I grip all of my 1911's and the P938 under the safety.

I can't believe finding a comfortable grip is that is that much of a problem...

If you can't figure this out - then by all means - sell the gun.
