How do you find out what firearms different law enforcement agencies use?

I've seen quite a few articles and comments here discussing various agencies and what their issue firearm is.

This information is interesting to me. In the past, I found out just by talking to buddies on the local PD.

Is there some kind of reference site that covers this though. I'd especially be interested in anything that chronicles not only current issue weapons but what they may have used in the past. The historical perspective would be the most interesting to me.
 
Just call your local police department if your curious. Or go do a ride a long. They will most likely be more then willing.
 
I don't see where it makes one bit of difference what the next man is carrying or shooting. Find something you feel comfortable with and that's the only thing that should matter.
 
Yes every dept may be different. Around here some depts carry Sig 45s and others carry Glocks. I work for two different towns and have to buy your own. I carry a Glock 22 others there carry a Ruger 90 and a Glock. But really still I could care less. Just my opinion.
