I currently don't have a specific "range gear" bag. I just use a plain backpack for now. I'm curious how others carry their pistols to a range. Do you give any consideration to not scratching the finish? Put it in a hard case inside the bag? Keep it on your body (holster)?

I voted "other" since I use a hard metal case that is padded on the inside. I just have one 9mm that goes to the range in that case, so all the cleaning kit/supplies are in the case also. My state requires that the gun be in a locked container in the trunk, which is partly why I use this case. Some say the truck IS the locked container, but I have not gotten 100% confirmation on that. Anyway, long guns are in soft cases for me, so that's what they go in.

1 hosltered and a (usally) Identical model in a shooting bag, but I can shoot in my field/backyard so range time is mostly for bitter cold/ IDPA>

I have a springfield armory Xd .45 and i like the new case that came with it so i just use it eveytime i need to bring it somewhere

I have an I-Shot Pro rangebag that I use. On occasion, I've been known to have something holstered as well.................

Regards,

I have always wondered why more people don't bring the holster, and practice drawing from it and handling the weapon with the holster in place. It seems to me, the more comfortable you are drawing the gun from the holster, the better.

That said, I bring the holster, and a range bag. My range bag has my eyes, ears, ammo, mags, and another gun. The bag stays in my trunk during the day, so I am always prepared.

neither was mine

I walk out any of my doors and start blastin'.
Gun literally in hand.
Sometimes if testing certain stuff I'll have guns stuck in my pants, in pockets, hanging from fingers.
Doesn't bother neighbors; sometimes it 'bothers' people driving by LOL.

I have a range bag (I won at a USPSA match) for 'public humping'.

I like WESHOOT2 use my backyard range. However, if I do go to the range "in Town" my Champion is on my hip and the rest of my "junk" is in a backpack. I have been thinking that I should buy on of those cool looking range bags. Then I think... no I'll spend that money on more ammo or save it for that next gun...:)

I recently bought a range bag and MAN, is it better than carrying two hard cases and and a plastic wal-mart bag of ammo that may or may not tear on the way in. With muffs and anything else and it could be a real handful.
If I pack efficiently I can easily fit five pistols plus ammo, and it's a small bag. It is quite convenient.
The bag was only $39 at a local range (which it fairly over-priced on just about everything else there).
Now that I have a Permit to Carry I can bring one on my hip too.

I've just started carrying in Comp-tac paddle holster but before that I would just carry in the sig box. Find its easier to just holster it rather than lug the case around (I only shoot one gun at the range). I also have taken to open carrying when I go into my shop, I ussually go right after the range.

Many of us dont have the option of draw and fire at the range. I know my range (and the one before) strictly prohibits it.

Makita tool bag off eBay for $10. Padded, shoulder strap, internal dividers and a couple of pockets on lid and outside. Rigid sides so it stays open when I need it to.

I'm just a construction guy with a tool bag......with 300+ rounds.....
