How do LEO's carry their Glocks

In my manual from Glock they instruct not to carry the weapon
with a round in the chamber. Is this how LEO's carry?
Thanks,
Bill

Honestly I can't say for 100% sure about the PD's around here.. but I'd be shocked if any of them carried empty chamber.

Actually I'd be shocked if any LE agency carried glocks without 1 in the pipe.

I don't have a Glock owners manual in front of me, but believe there is a statement in there somewhere making an exception for trained LE or security professionals. I know that I've read a statement to that effect in other manuals.

FWIW, you'll find a similar statement in ALL firearms owners manuals. It is a CYA thing in case someone is injured they can't say they weren't warned.

Nope. I carry a glock 22 full size 40 with 15 plus 1. Not having one in the chamber would be like a fireman responding to a fire without any water.

Bill, I'm 99.999 percent sure LEO's in the US carry their Glocks fully loaded, including the chamber. Maybe a few ponduk cops don't, but the vast majority do. I'm not a LEO but I sure do carry it chamber loaded.

I even have some armored car friends who carry Glocks and they carry them fully loaded.

When the Mayberry Sheriff's department went to G22s, one of the deputies was required to carry without a round chambered and to keep the magazine loaded with one round in his shirt pocket.

On a serious note, with proper training and a proper holster, it's safe to carry a Glock with a round chambered.

Any proficient person whether it be a normal person or a Leo shouldn't be scared to carry one in the chamber

Glocks are double action to a substantial degree and are reasonably safe to carry "chambered". IMHO, this does not hold true with all polymer framed and/or striker fired pistols.

Safer still is a true double action trigger.

2100 sworn on my department and we are required by policy to have one in the chamber when on duty. Off duty we can do whatever we want, but I dint know anyone who caries with an empty chamber.

Cops need to carry with one in the chamber. Me, I won't carry a glock with one in the chamber, too many AD/ND from trained professionals for me to think I won't make a mistake. I carry guns with safeties. Glock triggers feel like single action to me.

Not having one in the chamber would be like a fireman responding to a fire without any water.

It would depend on the departments policy, most would carry with a round in the chamber. PS I assume most firemen would not have water in their hoses before getting to a fire. :)

First show me the Level 3 Retention Duty holster the PD is required to use with a chambered Glock duty pistol, then I would certainly argue that those LEOs "should" be allowed to carry a chambered Glock duty pistol!

In my manual from Glock they instruct not to carry the weapon
with a round in the chamber.
From the first page of a Glock manual:

"CAUTION:
The higher level of preparedness required of law enforcement and military personnel may override several of the following safety instructions. To provide safety while operating at a higher level of preparedness, proper initial combat-oriented training and a reasonable amount of periodic training, which stresses safe tactical procedures, is recommended."

My personal rule is that carrying any gun that can be fired with a trigger pull requires a holster that completely covers the trigger and completely prevents any manipulation of the trigger of a holstered firearm.

I've been a police officer for nearing 20 years 3 different departments in 2 different states. I've have never met or heard of any department not allowing thier officers to carry on an empty chamber. Any senior member of any department would know that is asinine. It's dangerous and a huge liability. I could be wrong but I'm not buying the arguement of any one saying there's officers carrying an empty chamber.
