How do I write my Congressmen?

I was wondering if someone could guide me to a site that has lists of addresses (both snailmail and email) so that I can write my representatives on issues that I feel strongly about (gun Rights and other things).

I would love a comprehensive list of ALL major representatives around the nation, from all States, so that I can write them all when necessary.

I used the term "Congressmen" but I would like lists of ALL major politicians (Senators, Congressmen, Legislators, Judges, Police Chiefs, Governors, you name it).

Thanks!

YOu can always email them, but email usually gets deleted and you get a canned response from them. If you really want to make an impact then hand write them. You will usually get mail back from them. There is also www.vote.com i go there everday and i get responses back from sen. lugar, but only when he votes the way I want him too. This is an election year from him too!

CassandraComplex, WorldNetDaily ( www.wnd.com ) has a "contact your representatives" feature that works pretty well. Also, Mike Reagan published a "Citizen Action Handbook" which was the July-August 1999 edition of his newsletter. Volume 6 Issue 7-8, $3.50. I don't know if reprints are still available, but it's a good source of addresses and numbers.
The most important thing is to communicate with your reps. There are a lot of opinions pro & con about e-mail, letters, phone calls, etc., but just bear in mind anything is better than silence on your part-- rest assured someone else is getting their ear; you might as well too!

CassandraComplex, Worldnetdaily has the best site for contacting your elected representatives in DC.

I agree with previousl assessments regarding email. It is convenient but has a low impact. For maximum impact follow a few rules: 1) one topic per letter, reference the topic on a separate line, 2) hold to conventional rule of grammar and punctuation, 3) ideally keep your comments to no more than 1/3 of the page, 4) do not threaten or intimidate, 5) use good paper and matching envelope, 6) sign it in blue ink, and 7) do not expect a response.

This may look like a lot of unnecessary formality, but it isn't.

Once you get the hang of a letter strike off into the world of telephone calls to local offices. This is where the real fun is. I called Rep. Sue Myrick's office and talked to a staffer. About one week later I got a call from one of her legislative staffer for a half hour conversation.

They really do listen (whether or not they do anything is a different issue).

Anyway
Do NOT write your rep's handmail and include your home address get a po box first their very affordable unless you like being added to huge political mailing lists other parties
will be writing you for contributes
( I like the libertarians but didnt ask them to write me)
whoever's running for president or whoever else is connected to the party of the rep you just wrote will be writing you.
I like phone calls especially at certain times they never return those.
Since they already have my address on file
I do snail mail and email whenever GOA sends me an alert or something else comes up.
I get sick of the lobbies that send me so called alerts and ask me to send them something back and tell me theyll mail that to my reps.
With GOA they send it to me and let me mail it in pre-addressed to my reps so I dont have to wonder where its going and when.
