Hello all, I have an older bolt action
.22 rifle, that needs cleaning but I do
not know how to get the bolt part out.
Is there a site somewhere that shows how
this is done? I know a little about handguns
but not alot about rifles. Thanks, Kenneth

Hey Kenneth, With the rifle unloaded, open the bolt, pull the trigger back and hold it back, then pull the bolt the rest of the way out the back of the receiver. Most of the old ones work this way.

Hey Hot Core, I guess you must think
I'm stupid, but I figured I'd ask before
I messed something up.It worked just as
you said.Thanks again, Kenneth

If you'll tell me what the make and model of the guns is I may have the disassem/assem insturctions, with photos that I can email to you.

Hey Harley,I have (2) both different brands
but basically the same rifles.(1) is a Marlin
model 80-DL-22CAL-S-L-LR.The (2) one is J.C.
Higgins model 103** 22CAL-S-L-LR.I can't make
out the last two digits, but this one is a Sears
Roebuck model.Hope you can help. Kenneth

Ok, they are both the same, and I have the Disassem instructions w/photos. Now all I need is your email address, located at the top of this post, and I will send them to you.

Hey Kenneth, No, that never really crossed my mind. I completely agree it is much better to ask first.

By the way, that sure is a nice gift offered by Harley Nolden. There are some fifles out there that I know how to take apart, but I still like the instructions close at hand. An example of this (for me) would be the M100 Winchester.

Glad it worked for you. Now, you can clean them from the rear. You have two nice older rifles that will serve you right well.
