How do I find what's allowed in other states?

Hey, I'm currently in the very restrictive state of California and I'm contemplating a move to either WA state or Oregon, though not for gun reasons. After living here all my life and watching our gun laws go nuts, what would I be allowed to own in either of the two mentioned states?
In other words, do they restrict ownership based on AW ban-type criteria? No, my decision on which state will not be affected by answers, rather, I don't know how to seek out these answers. Is there a site which has these kinds of stats/laws?
Thanks for any answers!

Unless I missed it...

that's a great source for CCW info and some other. I was looking more for restrictions. In other words, could I own an AR in those states and what is restricted in handgun ownership.
Again, CA won't allow AR ownership and is VERY restrictive in what handguns are allowed.
Is there a site which offers the same type of info but with respect to types of weapons?

Actually there is a Cummifornia legal AR clone. Try the NRA's list of state laws. There is a link in TFL's library above this thread ;)

Um, sure. I've seen that, too. Try reloading that in a life-or-death situation. Not exactly an AR, IMHO.
Sorry, I didn't see a link to laws for other states...

Why not just email or call the Attorney General's office in each state and ask all your questions directly? I'm sure they'd call you back with answers. That way, you get it straight from the horse's mouth. Get the name of the person answering your questions, too, and write the date/time down. That way, if there was any discrepancy (i.e. legal issue) in the future, you have written documentation. I've done this with the AG's office in DE and PA regarding some of my "legal" questions I had. They're usually very nice and return your call or email by the next day (assuming they're not super busy), or after a few days at most. Just my 2¢.
